Judges Comments:

This was a really strong idea. Fun way to tell a story that's told every year, but in a new way. Kudos! The video was clean, the shots were steady, and the audio in the interviews was clear. Great setup in the beginning, with that first interview. But the pace was a little slow throughout, and could have maintained the light, holiday feel with a greater variety of shots (wide-medium-tight, whereas almost all the shots in the video were tight) and tight sequences. Also: The piece was all about sweets, but we didn't really *see* any sweets! (Saw a lot of white boxes, but not what was in them.) That would've been really nice, to see the variety of sweet things being made, or sold, or packaged into boxes, up close and from afar. Another bit that would've helped the pace: Some ambient sound. The piece was overpowered by the external audio (which isn't credited later, but should be, for copyright's sake), and a little ambient might help as well. Along the way, for pacing and context purposes, it might be fun to add some other tidbits about what goes in to the sweets-making: How many boxes are used? How many pounds of sugar/butter/flour? That could be accomplished via an interview/talking head, or via a lower-thirds slide. This is overall, a really fun piece. Nice job.
