Vimal Patel's work was the very best in a category that featured a lot of very good reporters and great stories. His work showed reporting tenacity, a very clear and approachable writing style, and a deep understanding of a very difficult subject in higher education. From his work that exposed an administrator's fraud to a very nice personal look at two faculty members who lost their jobs, Vimal Patel's stories gave readers a look inside one of his community's driving forces - Texas A&M University. Star-caliber work to be sure.
