In terms of overall packaging, including smart graphics and art, usefulness for readers and outstanding reporting and writing, the Globe-News shines about the rest. It was difficult to choose between this event and the coverage for the dust storm (just about a week later). In both cases, the writers and editors strike the right tone in newswriting, graphics and features -- reporting on the seriousness of the situation, while still having room for fun snow art and a reporter's notebook. And the front-page info graphics are outstanding. This is what top journalism is all about -- outstanding coverage bursting at the seams under difficult conditions.
