From the Fort Hood shootings to college football to state government to nightlife, statesman.com/Austin 360 stands out from all entries. The homepage is nicely organized, simple and easy to navigate. The interactives, such as the drought tracker and the Colt McCoy player comparison, are amazing. What a great way to use the Web to give people something to explore, and serve the online audience. "Virtual Capitol" gives readers first-rate political news and again uses the Web to its capacity with interactive maps of districts, podcasts and lawmakers' tweets. Just this one channel of the site is a comfortable and engaging place for a reader to spend time and join a conversation. The photo/multimedia blog is beautiful. The "cutest couple" contest is not only fun but a great way to drive traffic to the site and bring in new audience. The list goes on and on.
