An outstanding example of watchdog journalism that revealed information of great public interest and made ample use of open records law and public records. It represents the heart of newspaper journalism: detailed reporting that holds government accountable. In an era of CSI around the clock, it gave readers a much more realistic view of the world of medical examiners, and how poorly many in Texas operate. In addition it was well-told and good reading.
