Judges Comments:

This designer easily stood out from the field because of his multiple skill sets -- as a graphic artist and designer. This increasingly needed combination of talents prepares him well for to envisioning and executing the pages he ultimately delivers. In jotting down notes about his entries, I ended up with the following words of reminder ... "always fresh, high-impact, surprising, elegant, inviting and solid execution." This designer begins with a vision that could not otherwise be reached without being able to draw on his own top-notch artistic talents. Other designers most likely still rely on artists who come close to what they want to portray, or they rely too much on dominant photography around which they ply their trade. This individual, however, integrates the elements of his unique vision and produces pages that are different, informative and/or absolutely inviting each and every time. And yet, his pages have the additional component of elegance because they are not overly crowded -- most are straight to the point. And still, every page has estreme subtelties and complexities that only the best designers (and his lucky audience of daily readers) will be able to truly appreciate.
